Political commentator hits back at Warmington and Pickersgill
Political commentator Richard Dicky Crawford is criticising the statements by Government MP Everald Warmington and Opposition MP Robert Pickersgill regarding a proposal for the Electoral Commission to decide on the postponement of general elections.
The two parliamentarians yesterday raised incensed by a proposal by the ECJ for the constituted authority to give advice to the Governor General to postpone a general election instead of the Cabinet.
Warmington said the parliament would be reneging on its responsibilities.
He was supported by Pickersgill.
But Crawford has criticised them for their views saying they appear determined to maintain their power over the people.
Crawford said all the expenses and legal fallout over the dual citizenship cases could have been avoided if the ECJ had the power and clear authority to determine who is qualified to contest an election in Jamaica.
