Benches have returned to Water Square in Falmouth, Trelawny, after being removed for refurbishment.

They were taken out in August, with the Port Authority of Jamaica reporting that they had fallen into a serious state of disrepair.

Their return has been welcomed by residents.

“People had become accustomed to sitting on them. A void was created by their removal. Now, things are back to normal, and we welcome them back,” said Councillor for the Falmouth Division, Garth Wilkinson.

The return comes amid preparations for the unveiling of the statue of legendary Jamaican sprinter and Trelawny native Usain Bolt, as well as the upcoming peak cruise season in October.
