Put post offices on path to profitability

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The post office in Jamaica must be put in a position to make money for the country. There is no good reason why it should be a drain on the economy. It needs a sound-thinking person to get involved and evaluate all the lossmaking areas and convert that to profitability.

A pet peeve of mine is that postmen are given letters to deliver all over Kingston and box holders have to pay $2,000 per year for the facility of having a box at the post office which they have to clear. This is not an equitable situation. There are many other services the post office could make charges for to assist with balancing their budget.
