ZOSOs an embarrassing failure

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I agree with Dr Peter Phillips. The zones of special operations (ZOSOs) never really made any sense to me in the first place. It is not an effective crime-fighting method.
People need policing that will really make them feel safe for a very long time. They need to go back to the drawing board and come up with something more effective than just a few weeks of police presence in a few volatile communities. As soon as the security forces pulled out of the Denham Town ZOSO, crime soared. In my opinion, ZOSO has been a waste of taxpayers' money.
The Government and Opposition need to sit down and come up with a plan to do something that will really make the people of Jamaica feel safe.
