Blast only wolves in sheep's clothing
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Once again, Keiran King has darkened counsel without knowledge. I understand his concern about the spread of religion by force - some of my ancestors fled to Jamaica because of the Roman Catholic persecution of Jews in Portugal.
Mr King, however, condemns Christianity, unaware that he is condemning a man because someone else committed a crime while wearing that man's clothing. Mr King makes no distinction between a so-called Christianity, which is nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing, and true Christianity, which is a following after Jesus. All through Christian history, we have had both true sheep, and wolves masquerading as sheep.
Does anyone really think that Jesus promoted slavery or the spreading of his teachings by force? Only wolves are violent. Many churches do have wolves behind pulpits, fleecing and preying on their flocks. What we have to do is get rid of the wolves that are on the inside by exposing them, and point the flock to where there is safety.
I am sure even Mr King, with all his confusion about what real Christianity is, if his car were to break down on a lonely road in the middle of the night, and he were to see five big men coming towards him, would feel a lot more at ease if they were all carrying Bibles and singing Amazing Grace.
