Jamaica's Stacey Ann Williams failed to recover from being hampered in heat one of the women's 400 metres semi-finals at the World Indoor Athletics Championships today and finished fifth.

Williams, among the leaders at the 200 metres mark, was blocked, cut her speed drastically and faded to the back of the pack.

Williams finished in 52.47 seconds, with the Netherlands Lieka Klaver winning in 51.18. The other two qualifiers from the heat for the final were Talitha Diggs of the United States of America, who clocked 51.28 and Sharlene Mawdsley of Ireland, who did 52.16.
