National record holder O'Dayne Richards missed out on a medal in the shot put final at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

Richards, who arrived at the championships as the defending champion, having won gold four years ago in Glasgow, Scotland, fouled on his last four throws, to end with a distance of 20.80m.

He finished behind gold medal winner Tomas Walsh (New Zealand), 21.41m, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi (Nigeria), who threw a personal best 21.14m to bag the silver and Canada's Tim Nebow, 20.91m.

The other Jamaican in the final, Ashinia Miller, finished in seventh place with a mark of 19.68m.

Like Richards, Miller struggled in the circle, fouling on five of his six attempts.
