Commonwealth Games 2018 | Williams, Evans secure silver and bronze in 100m

Christania Williams and Gayon Evans both produced late bursts to win silver and bronze respectively in the women's 100m final at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia on Monday. 

Williams, got left in the blocks but recovered well to clock 11.21 seconds to finish behind Trinidad and Tobago's Michelle-Lee Ahye, the pre-championships favourite, who clocked 11.14 seconds for the gold medal. 

Evens produced a personal best 11.22 seconds for bronze with the other Jamaican, Natasha Morrison finishing fifth in 11.31 seconds. 

These were Jamaica's first medals in athletics at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and brings the country's overall medal tally to three, after swimmer Alia Atkinson's silver medal in the 50m breaststroke for women.
