Steve Lyston | Time for a detoxification

Having fresh fruit and vegetables regularly, whether eaten or juiced, is a good way detoxifying the body.

We are living in a society where almost everything we consume is fake. There are fake foods, fake water, fake hair, fake body parts, and even fake news.

We are living in a toxic environment. There is even pollution and high toxicity within the body of Christ, and only the undiluted, 100 per cent organic word of God can cleanse us.

Health practitioners will say it is good to detoxify ourselves regularly. We can use lemon juice, vinegar, and a lot of water to detoxify our bodies. We can eat meals consisting of 50 per cent cooked food items, and 50 per cent raw/uncooked items such as vegetables. A toxic body causes illness because it means we are filled with waste matter that needs to come out, and it slows us down and causes many ailments.

There are so many things in our society that need to be detoxified from our systems. For example, negative people, gambling, sexual impurities, adultery, fornication and gossip. When God calls us from darkness to light, the first thing he does is to detoxify us by allowing the things, or the people who are not healthy for us, to be removed - a purging. He removes the weight and the filth that has bogged us down over the years. Sadly, we often fight to hold on to those people and things, including circles, groups, companions, and even organisations.

DETOXIFYING THE BODY

However, we have to realise and embrace the fact that Jesus is trying to make us healthy - body, soul and spirit. He wants us to be clean (Hebrews 10:2). Often, the problems we are encountering are a significant part of the process of detoxification. It may be painful, but as soon as the garbage and filth leave, we will begin to realise our true size and see who we really are. Our joy will begin to return. Purity is the key to prosperity.

Have you ever felt full and bloated, heavy and stressed? You need to detoxify spiritually and physically. The old things must go. Everything is connected - body, soul and spirit. Many people will say they are healthy because they go to the gym and they do yoga, and take supplements. However, what happens when they do all of that and still harbour unforgivingness, hatred, jealousy, bitterness, or engage in sexual immorality and impurities? What happens to them when they have low self-esteem, negative thoughts and a bad attitude? Those are toxins, which also affect the body and the soul.

DETOXIFYING THE ENVIRONMENT

Detoxification is necessary even for the Earth - oceans, rivers, and even the ground. Often, natural occurrences such as tsunamis and tidal waves are sometimes nature's way of detoxifying oceans. The waste, toxins and debris that have been left in the oceans, whether by man's carelessness or through man's rituals, must come out. Even when flooding takes place, it's a detoxification which is taking place and all the garbage becomes exposed for removal. Could it be that even when volcanoes erupt that there is a process of detoxification also occurring below the surface?

Therefore, when man's actions go against God's creation, then the Earth, the environment, becomes toxic and a purging or detoxification becomes necessary. Man has a great deal of influence on the state of the environment, so man's negative actions determine the reaction of the Earth. So if all individuals and sovereign nations begin to detoxify the waste and poison corrupting us and the world, then we will not have to worry about climate change.

It is sad to say that the very things that were created to assist us with detoxification are being destroyed and replaced with fake ones.

WHAT IS SWEET CAN BE SOUR

Sugar is sweet, but today sugar is poisoning our bodies. Sex is 'sweet', but when we go beyond the boundaries God sets for it, then the whole body becomes toxic and defiled.

The organs of the body were made to worship God, in the same way that the planets in the universe were created to glorify him (Psalm 148). They can become idols in circumstances where the creation takes precedence over the creator. When that happens, it is time to detoxify.
