A limited-edition rum for the festive season
Appleton Estate has released a limited-edition Spanish Sherry Cask, a new expression that combines Oloroso Sherry Casks with Jamaican rum. It is designed for rum fans, dark spirit enthusiasts, and daring drinkers. With layers of dried fruit, honey, vanilla, citrus, and a smooth, dry finish enhanced by toasted nuts and tobacco, the result is a rich yet approachable character.
The Spanish Sherry Cask is ideal for sipping neat, upgrading cocktails, or giving as a holiday gift.
Here are a few drink recipes that you can try for the season to elevate your holiday spirit and gathering.
SHERRY AND GINGER ALE
INGREDIENTS
n 1½ oz Appleton Estate Spanish Sherry
cask rum
n 3 oz ginger ale
DIRECTIONS
1. Add all ingredients to a rock glass with ice.
2. Stir ingredients together in a glass and serve.
SHERRY AND COCA-COLA
INGREDIENTS
n 1½ oz Appleton Estate Spanish Sherry
cask rum
n 3 oz Coca-Cola
DIRECTIONS
1. Add all ingredients to a rock glass with ice.
2. Stir ingredients together in a glass and serve.
SHERRY AND WHITE CRANBERRY
INGREDIENTS
n 1½ oz Appleton Estate Spanish Sherry
cask rum
n 3 oz white cranberry
DIRECTIONS
1. Add all ingredients to a rock glass with ice.
2. Stir ingredients together in a glass and serve.
MANHATTAN
INGREDIENTS
n 2 oz Appleton Estate Spanish Sherry
cask rum
n 1 oz sweet vermouth
n 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
DIRECTIONS
1. Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice.
2. Shake ingredients till chilled.
3. Pour liquid into a coup glass.
4. Garnish by adding a cherry inside the drink.
OLD FASHIONED
INGREDIENTS
n 1 bar spoon/tea spoon of brown sugar
n 1 cherry
n 2 dashes of bitters
n 1 orange slice
n 2 oz Appleton Estate Spanish Sherry cask rum
DIRECTIONS
1. Muddle all ingredients together in a preferred jar (except the Sherry rum).
2. Add 2 oz Appleton Estate Spanish Sherry cask rum to the muddled mixture.
3. Pour the mixture into a rock glass with ice and stir.
4. Garnish with an orange peel (optional).
