Tessellated brings reggae colour to new single ‘No Ansa’, featuring Crayon
After already building a name for himself, making waves with his Pine and Ginger collaboration, young talent Tessellated trods on musical melody, setting sights on new music. He joins forces with emerging Afrobeats act Crayon.
“The process was a smooth, collaborative effort. From the initial session with Footsteps & Bayo in the UK to sending over to Crayon in Nigeria for a verse, it was a project that flowed from step to step, where each person brought their unique strengths to the table to create something special,” Tessellated explained to The Gleaner.
He continues his distinctive streak of smooth releases with a new sensual jam that moves with R&B tendencies, proving that when it comes to the art of making music, there are no boundaries. Tessellated is very much a vanguard for genre fusion.
SMOOTH CHARM
He showcases this effortlessly with the bounce of the strings and an infectious bassline that matches his smooth charm. No Ansa is a hit very much for the international stage with Lagos-based Crayon making the diasporic connection with a hot guest verse.
While having influences that span jazz, R&B, and hip hop with a base of reggae and dancehall, Tessellated’s artistry reaches far beyond his Jamaican roots. His ear for music lends itself to experimenting with different soundscapes, and his releases so far attest to his worldwide appeal. Pine and Ginger has drummed up over 22 million total streams to date, and I Learnt Some Jazz Today marched to the top of the Billboard jazz charts and struck a major sync with Apple for their film Bounce.
Making fans out of industry heavyweights such as Camila Cabello, Lily Allen, Diplo, Major Lazer, Jorja Smith, and others with his voice and knack for production speaks to not only his talent but his potential to be among the greats in the industry.
