PNP delay selection of new General Secretary

People’s National Party (PNP) has pushed back the date for selecting a new general secretary.

The party said its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting will no longer be held next Sunday, but on Sunday, January 27.

A joint sitting of the Executive/Parliamentary Group of the party last night decided that the delay would allow more time for wide ranging consultations on issues to be raised at the NEC.

The party has also confirmed receiving two nominations for the position of General Secretary from MP for Eastern Hanover Dr. D.K Duncan and MP for Central Manchester, Peter Bunting.

Although nominations for the position closed at noon yesterday, the party’s constitution allows for nominations from the floor during the NEC meeting.
