President-elect Barack Obama wants to renew the US commitment to finding al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
Osama bin Laden remains on the run despite a US$25 million reward for his capture.
The Obama team believes the Bush administration has downplayed the importance of catching the country’s most-wanted terrorist because it has not been able to find him.
US intelligence officials say they haven\'t had a solid lead on bin Laden’s whereabouts since late 2001.
Mr Obama reportedly plans to send more troops into Afghanistan to push back the growing Taliban insurgency.
However experts say there could be severe consequences of such a move.
