IAAF WORLD YOUTH CHAMPS: World Youth Champs is breeding ground for stars - IAAF president

DONETSK, Ukraine:
IAAF President Lamine Diack a short while ago underscored the value of the IAAF World Youth Championships, which gets underway on Wednesday July 10, inside the RSC Olympiyskiy.
Diack, who was speaking at a press conference inside the Olympiyskiy ahead of the start of the competition, hailed the championships as a breeding ground for global athletics stars and underlined its value towards the continued development of the sport.
"The IAAF World Youth Championships are the beginning of many great athletes like Usain Bolt, Allyson Felix, Yelena Isinbayeva, Valerie Adams and most recently, Kirani James," said Diack. "It is the breeding ground of future athletes, the first global experience in their young careers."
"This is a unique opportuntuy to develop the sport in a fast growing region. Ukraine has a proud tradition at the world level."
Also present at the press conference was Ukrainian pole vault legend, world record holder and International Olympic Association presidential candidate Sergey Bubka.
