Nasty agenda against Errol Morrison

Published:Wednesday | June 25, 2014 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I wish to express my consternation at the disgraceful treatment of Professor Errol Morrison by the Ministry of Education, the unions, and some media houses. Professor Morrison is a true patriot of Jamaica who has served the University of Technology (UTech) with distinction over the past six years.

During his tenure, he increased the student body by 100 per cent, thus facilitating the development and qualification of thousands more young persons. He also opened a campus in western Jamaica.

The university has stayed true to its core curricula, that of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and innovation. It has been alleged that the university has lost its way, but can that be true when the essential programmes required by the Government for Jamaica's development still have a priority at UTech?

The non-compliance issues raised in the four-member Special Advisory Committee report were shown to be false, and although this was pointed out, the committee still chose to present them as facts and to use them to recommend the removal of the president.

I can only conclude that there is a hidden agenda - to discredit Professor Morrison.
