Mavis Bank pays J$50m to coffee farmers

Mavis Bank Coffee Factory Limited will pay farmers who supply the plant a final price of J$3,091 per box of coffee cherry, according to managing director Senator Norman Grant.
The price includes a production cess of J$91 per box, mandated by regulator Coffee Industry Board.
The two payments - J$2,000 for the first instalment and final payout of J$1,000 per box - amount to J$50 million to 6,000 farmers who delivered 52,000 boxes of coffee cherry to Mavis Bank during the period August 1 to December 31, 2011.
