Reservations look good for Restaurant Week
With today being the start of The Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week, some of the participating restaurants are experiencing slower reservations over the same period last year, but at least one restaurant is already fully booked. We spoke to some of them and here is what they had to say:
Gimbilyn
Gimbilyn has been overwhelmed with reservations. For tonight they are already booked out with over 100 reservations for the next few days. Food and Beverage Manager Karen Levy notes that at Alhambra Inn it is very difficult to be completely booked because of the different dinning areas that they have. But in addition to confirmed reservations so far they also have to keep walk-in clients in mind.
With the publication of the Restaurant Week supplement yesterday, calls were excessive.
Mango Tree Restaurant Bar and Lounge
Reservations are coming in slowly, but not as many as last year.
The Terrace
It is coming along very nicely. We still have a few tables remaining, so persons can still call and make reservations.
Raffaele's Gourmet Pizzeria
Not impressed! It is not going well.
Guilt Trip
"Bookings are going very very good, as usual," said owner Colin Hilton.
Prendy's on the Beach
"All is going well," said Donette Prendergast, manager at the seafood restaurant. She said they're not yet booked out but she is anticipating customers coming out, so they're securing extra seating.
Shirley Retreat Hotel
Bookings have been going quite well. We are getting a lot of interest and exposure, and persons have been making reservations. Of course, we are hoping for more! Next week Friday and Saturday seem to have the most reservations so far.
Susie's Bakery and Coffee Bar
Reservations have been going well, they were actually coming in from before. We hope to get a few more too. Our Fridays and Saturdays are filling up first and this year, Sunday is, surprisingly, doing well too.
Robin's Prime Steakhouse
Located in Montego Bay, the management reports that since the supplement hit the stands, reservations have been coming in slowly, but they expect more as the week progresses.
The Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort & Spa
This eatery located in Ocho Rios had not received many reservations when The Gleaner spoke to them yesterday.
Christopher's at Hermosa Cove
The team told The Gleaner that they had been getting calls from the last few days and these include groups of two, four and one large group so far.
Café Da Vinci
Owner of Café Da Vinci, Alessandra Bordolini, said bookings for The Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week have been going well so far. She noted that already they are fully booked for today and November 15, but still have some space for the other days.
Terra Nova All Suite Hotel
Kay Rochester, reservation manager at Terra Nova Al Suite Hotel, said bookings for The Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week are not coming as they did in previous times.
"The figures are disappointing because, usually, by this time we would be busy and we're not even getting the queries," she said.
She pointed out that though they do have reservations, they still have availability. She noted that diners tend to make reservations at more than one restaurant and on the day decide on one, but don't call to cancel. However, she is positive as she said the hotel usually gets many walk-in diners.
Rojo Spanish Court Hotel Restaurant
Hotel manager Lee-Ann Godfrey said that they are fully booked for the entire week.
