Wake up, Mike Henry!

THE EDITOR, Sir:

For the past four months, work has been carried out on the Wilmington-Mt Stewart road in St Thomas, which has been in deplorable condition for a very long time, like just about all the roads in the parish.

However, what is painfully obvious is that the contractors are anything but road engineers. It does not seem as if the work is being done properly, and might not survive one rainy season. Both the contractors and those who authorise payments for this makeshift work should be investigated.

If this is an example of the much-touted islandwide road rehabilitation - and from past experience we must draw our conclusions - then all those billions of dollars may simply end up in unworthy pockets, and we will still have no proper roads.

Wake up, Mike Henry! You are treading in those muddy footprints left behind by others.
