Law enforcement agencies make major drug bust in The Bahamas

NASSAU, Bahamas, CMC – Police say they intercepted and seized a boat near Mars Bay, Andros, on Monday, with US$6.4 million worth of hydroponic marijuana onboard.
They said on Sunday night, a United States air asset alerted the Royal Barbados Defence Force (RBDF) to a suspected narcotics vessel located 11 miles West of Duncan Town, Ragged Island.
The boat was interdicted 38 nautical miles southwest of Mars Bay, Andros during the early hours of Monday.
The authorities said two men, ages 37 and 53, who were on the boat have since been taken into custody.
They said that the operation was conducted by the RBDF, Royal Bahamas Police Force, the US Coast Guard and Operation Bahamas Turks and Caicos.
The police said a total of 2,576 pounds of marijuana had been discovered on the boat.
