DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CMC):

West Indies Women captain Hayley Matthews has attained career-best positions in the ICC Women’s ODI batting and all-rounder rankings following her outstanding performances in the recently concluded series against Zimbabwe Women.

Matthews amassed 326 runs in the three-match series, including two centuries, at an impressive average of 108.66 to secure the Player of the Series award as West Indies claimed a 2-1 series victory.

Those performances have lifted the 28-year-old to fourth in the ODI batting rankings and second in the all-rounders’ standings.

In the batting rankings, Matthews’s 731 rating points place her behind only India’s Smriti Mandhana (790 points), South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt (782), and Australia opener Beth Mooney (744).

Meanwhile, Matthews, who is the world’s top-ranked T20 all-rounder, has reached a career-best 467 rating points in the ODI all-rounder rankings. The achievement leaves her just 30 points behind the number-one ranked Ash Gardner, who leads with 497 points.

Several other West Indies Women players also made significant gains in the rankings following strong performances in the series.

Wicketkeeper-batter Shemaine Campbelle climbed 15 places to 74th in the batting rankings, while Afy Fletcher (up two places to 17th), Aaliyah Alleyne (up eight spots to 49th), and Ashmini Munisar (up 11 places to 70th) all improved their positions in the ODI bowling rankings.
