Mark Anthony Daley captured the men’s 200 metres title in 20.90 seconds at the fourth International University Americas Games (FISU) in Lima, Peru, yesterday.

Jamaica finished one-two in the event with Dejaun Strachan taking the silver medal in 21.25. Chile’s Benjamin Aravena, the 100m silver medallist, claimed bronze in 21.29.

The victory completed a sprint double for Jamaica after Rasheed Foster won the men’s 100 metres a day earlier.

Daley, who attends Louisiana State University (LSU), was delighted with his victory.

“It was a great feeling to represent my country, Intercol and LSU. Going out there, the aim was to win, and I did just that. I am extremely happy,” said Daley.

Daley will now team up with his brother Deandre, Jace Witter and Foster in the men’s 4x100m relay, where Jamaica will start as favourites to secure the title and the country’s third gold medal of the championships.
