Kadrian Goldson hit top form on Friday night at the Ed Murphey Classic in Memphis, Tennessee, a World Continental Tour Silver meet, after posting a personal best 9.89 seconds (1.9mps) to capture the men’s 100 metres.
On a night when there were heavy tailwinds throughout the meet, Goldson’s event was not affected as he sped to an impressive victory, relegating the United States duo of Ronnie Baker and Courtney Lindsay to second and third, respectively, both in identical times of 9.93.
Kemba Nelson clocked 10.97 to finish second in the women’s 100 metres but, unlike Goldson’s effort, it was wind-aided with a positive wind reading of 2.1mps. The United States’ Tamari Davis won the event in 10.89, with McKenzie Long, also of the United States, third in 10.98.
National senior 400-metre champion Antonio Watson had to settle for second in the men’s 400 metres in 44.70. Nigeria’s Samuel Ogazi continued his good form in the event, winning in 44.51, while Grenada’s Kirani James finished third in 45.04.
In a rare appearance on the track this season, Natoya Goule-Toppin finished second in the women’s 800 metres in 2:00.80, as Shafiqua Maloney of St Vincent won the event in 1:58.72.
Ashanti Moore finished third in the women’s 200 metres, clocking 22.10 with a positive wind of 2.8mps. Nigeria’s Favour Ofili won the event in 21.74 ahead of the United States’ McKenzie Long, who was second in 22.01.
In the men’s 200 metres, Christopher Taylor had to settle for sixth in 20.02 with a positive wind of 3.9mps. Zimbabwe’s Denzel Simusialela won the event in 19.84, finishing ahead of Canada’s Aaron Brown, who was second in 19.86.
Shaquena Foote finished fourth in the women’s 400 metres in 51.71, as Nigeria’s Ella Onojuvwevwo captured the event in 50.38.
