It was a safe passage to the final of the women’s 100 metres for all three Jamaicans as Tina Clayton, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson all punched their tickets at the World Athletics Championships in comfortable fashion.

Shericka Jackson was the first to secure her place from heat one, as her time of 10.97 seconds, was enough to take the second automatic qualifying spot behind Côte d’Ivoire’s Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith.

Fraser-Pryce followed in heat two, as a composed performance saw her clocking 11.00s, to finish behind a dominant reigning Olympic champion, Julien Alfred, who shut down before the finish line in 10.93s.

Jamaican national champion Clayton, 10.90s, followed world leader Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, 10.73s, across the line in heat three.

The start list for the final, set for 8:13 a.m. Jamaica time, will see Jackson running from lane three, with Clayton and Fraser-Pryce in lanes six and eight, respectively.

Alfred, a heavy medal contender, will run from lane five, beside Jefferson-Wooden who is set to run from lane four.

Defending world champion Sha’Carri Richardson will line up in lane two after sneaking into the final as a non-automatic qualifier.
