Legacy Isle should stroll to Omar Walker Trophy
ANOTHER MOUTTET Mile graduate, runner-up LEGACY ISLE, the Florida invader caught at the wire by his local-based compatriot, FUNCAANDUN, should go on a romp two classes lower in Saturday’s Omar Walker Trophy at five furlongs round.
Having impressed at exercise last Saturday morning, clocking 58.0 from the gate, the first four furlongs in 45.1, LEGACY ISLE shouldn’t break a sweat against overnight-allowance runners, following the Mouttet Mile form, which has held true for five returnees.
Third-past-the-post COMMANDANT, who was a length and a quarter behind LEGACY ISLE in the Mouttet Mile, toyed with open-allowance company last Saturday, a level above overnight allowance.
Other winning Mouttet Mile graduates, all foreigners, include TIZ TOK, who was fifth, PACK PLAYS, and BARNABY, sixth and seventh, respectively.
WALL STREET TRADER, who finished 12th in the Mouttet Mile, returned to wire overnight-allowance runners at six and a half furlongs on Ash Wednesday, franking the form of the US$250,000 event, suggesting a vast class difference, allowed by the condition book.
LEGACY ISLE, similar to stablemate COMMANDANT, will be an easy winner at money-back odds, basically a demonstration race for the Omar Walker Trophy.
The closing race of the 2024-2025 BGLC-TOBA Millionaires Series, a six and a half furlong event attracting a decent 12-horse field of maidens, all foreigners, marks the first in many years such a line-up will head to post at Caymanas Park.
The historic Millionaires Series, spread over two- and three-year-olds, maidens, and winners, has certainly generated immense interest and participation among owners in its first year, rewarding eligible winning runners with $1 million bonuses.
Owen Sharpe’s NEPHEW returns as a disqualified winner at the exact trip. However, Adrian Prince’s INCREDIBLE JO has flown at exercise, posting 1:13.2 for six furlongs last Saturday morning. Prior to that gallop, INCREDIBLE JO kept company with Mouttet Mile winner, FUNCAANDUN, clocking 59.3 from the gate the previous Saturday.
