Funcaandun voted 2024 Horse-of the-Year

AFTER THE votes were tallied, Mr Carlton Watson’s talented three-year-old Bay Colt FUNCAANDUN (Klimt-Fiftyshadesoffun by Empire Maker) was voted Horse-of-the-Year 2024.

FUNCAANDUN earned $27,878,200 by virtue of winning eight races from 11 starts. His victories included: The Rimsky Trophy, The World Vet Day Trophy, She’s A Maneater, Distinctly Irish, Philip Feanny Gold Cup, and the ultra rich Mouttet Mile.

The Jason DaCosta-conditioned FUNCAANDUN, while sporting the white and burgundy silks of Carlton Watson, was also voted Champion three-year-old, Champion Middle Distance Performer overall, and Champion Foreign Bred overall. He was bred by Bill Adair, Phyllis Adair, and Connie Brown (USA), and groomed by Terrence Bloomfield.

ATOMICA (Nuclear Wayne – Honkeytonkville by Reparations) and DESERT OF MALIBU (Malibu Moon- Lady Digger by Yankee Gentleman) were voted first and second runners-up, respectively, to the Horse-of-the-Year.

The Jamaica Cup heroine ATOMICA was also voted Champion four-year-old and up overall, Champion Stayer overall and Champion Local Bred. She is owned by Oakridge Farms.

Houston Stables’ DESERT OF MALIBU(USA), who was victorious in The Port Royal Sprint, The None Such Sprint, and The Lady Geeta, was voted Champion Sprinter overall.

The two-year-old Bay Colt UNSPUN (USA) (Spun To Run – U Need A Ride by Summerfront) won three stakes races – The Dye Job Sprint, The Mr Sensational, The Hovercraft – and was voted Champion two-year-old overall for his owner, Colin Elcock.

The Most Improved Trainer was Donovan Hutchinson, while Raddesh Roman was voted Most Improved Jockey.
