CALIFORNIA CROWN, ridden by Robert Halledeen, wins the second running of the Monday Morning Trophy at Caymanas Park yesterday.

JORDON REIGN’s, third in the 2022 Mouttet Mile, used his back class to make a mockery of the conditions book, needing only last-furlong reminders to go all the way in yesterday’s overnight-allowance at five furlongs straight.

Reporting off a near seven-month lay-up from open-allowance company, placing fourth behind stablemate MAHOGANY last October, JORDON REIGN’S benefitted from a conditions-book class drop, lining up against struggling overnight-allowance runners.

The United States-bred six-year-old gelding broke sharply with leading rider Tevin Foster, pressed by 19-1 outsider POSING ALREADY, whose challenge he brushed aside before being ridden out to hold improved K P CHOICE at bay by a length and a half at the wire.

Leading rider Tevin Foster was aboard JORDON REIGN’s, the 4-5 favourite, who won in 1:00.1, his first victory since completing four consecutive wins in August 2022.

Champion jockey Reyan Lewis booted home two winners, WILSON and UNDISCLOSDLOCATION, Anthony Nunes’ three-year-old debutant, who upstaged stablemate TRUST FUND BABY in the fifth at five furlongs straight.

Champion trainer Jason DaCosta’s CALIFORNIA CROWN won the seven-furlong Monday Morning Trophy to remain unbeaten in two starts, taking over from the filly AMMA coming off the home turn, strengthening his 2000 Guineas credentials in 1:28.2.

Female rider Abigail Able closed a double DaCosta, sneaking past rivals along the rail to aboard 5-2 chance BROWN SKIN GIRL to outfinish WHIZZ KIDD at nine furlongs and 25 yards.

Racing continues on Thursday with the Labour Day meet, featuring a Reggae 6 mandatory payout expected to reach $30 million at off-time.
