Former ISSA daCosta Cup champions St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS), Rusea’s High and Frome Technical all made sure their perfect start to the new rural area football season remained intact following Friday’s action.

Frome Technical had to dig the deepest of the former champions, as they had to pull out all the stops to edge Cambridge High 3-2.

The Omar Wedderburn-coached STETHS team also had their work cut out, as they travelled to Lacovia and chalked up a 2-1 win over Maggotty.

Rusea’s High needed just a single goal, which was good enough for a 1-0 home win over Green Island High.

Both Frome and Rusea’s sit atop Zone B with a maximum of six points from their two games with STETHS and BB Coke leading Zone E with maximum six points after BB Coke also secured their second win following a 1-0 win over Lacovia.

Munro College are right behind in third place in Zone E after they followed up their opening fixture draw with a 3-0 win over Newell High.

Elsewhere, the Dwight Jeremiah-coached William Knibb High were in a rampant mood as they hammered Ferncourt High 10-0 at Drax Hall.

Annotto Bay High continued to make life hard for Carron Hall High, who have conceded 17 goals so far in two games following a 9-0 drubbing.

St Mary High also went on a goalscoring spree as they found the back of the net eight times against Iona High at Highgate.

Manchester High continued their momentum after coming away with a 5-0 win over Decarteret College, while May Day High turned back Cross Keys 4-1.

Other winners yesterday were Cedric Titus, Aabuthnott Gallimore, Grange Hill, Sydney Pagon and Belair.

The competition continues today with another 19 matches, with all eyes set to be fixed on the fixture between Zone L outfits, Glenmuir High who will be hosting last year’s beaten daCosta Cup finalists Central High at 3:30 p.m.

That game will be preceded by Kemps Hill versus Vere Technical at 1:30 p.m.
