Misir joins Aoki Racing Team for 2026 E1 Season
Jamaica’s motorsport trailblazer Sara Misir has been announced as a new driver for Team Aoki Racing in the 2026 UIM E1 World Championship which got under way yesterday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Misir joins Aoki Racing from Team Blue Rising, where she delivered an impressive rookie season in 2025, finishing third overall in the championship. She will partner former Formula 1 test driver Dani Clos, forming a driver pairing widely viewed as championship contenders.
The season comes on the heels of Misir’s recent national recognition. Last week, she was named RJR/GLEANER Breakthrough Athlete of the Year, first runner-up for Sportswoman of the Year, and Yachtswoman of the Year, honours recognising her outstanding exploits during the 2025 season.
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is where Misir made her debut in 2025 and claimed her first career podium last year. She has started strongly again, qualifying P2, with the final set for 8 a.m. Jamaica time today.
“I’m incredibly excited to be part of Aoki Racing,” Misir said. “The Aoki family’s history of racing excellence and passion aligns perfectly with my own values as a racer. I’m proud to help represent the legacy in the E1 Series and push new limits.”
Misir remains the first and only professional female race car driver from Jamaica, continuing to break barriers across car and powerboat racing.
Aoki Racing Team, owned by international DJ Steve Aoki, competes in the all-electric RaceBird hydrofoil boats in the UIM E1 World Championship.
