#BudaQuest |Smith through, Hickling out in women’s long jump
There were mixed results for Jamaica’s long jumping duo of Tissana Hickling and Ackelia Smith this morning at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Smith had to rely on her final jump, cutting the sand at 6.78 metres, to qualify to the final. The mark, her only legal notch, was the fourth-longest jump of the day for the world number-12 long jumper.
Teammate Hickling wasn’t as lucky, missing out on a spot in the final as she could only muster a championship best effort of 6.29.
The women’s long jump final will begin at 9:55 a.m. tomorrow.
