National Housing Trust (NHT) will be looking to defend their crown when they face off against the RJRGLEANER Communications Group today in the final of the Xpress Sports-sponsored Division One Kingston and St Andrew Business House Football league.

The Division One final is set to kick off today at 6:30 p.m. at the Ashenheim Stadium, Jamaica College, with the Division Two final between Scotiabank and Appliance Traders Limited (ATL) at 4:30 p.m.

NHT’s head coach Shaun Daley said they are confident they can achieve their ambitions of being back-to-back champions.

“The team has put in a lot of hard work and we are ready to give it our all to make the NHT proud of their football team as back-to-back champions,” he said.

“We expect a competitive and intense game because it’s a final and both teams will be going for it and this will make it for sure an entertaining game for the patrons.”

The defending champions had booked their spot in the final after a close 1-0 victory over McKay Security in the semi-finals.

Their challengers, RJRGLEANER, will be gunning to lay claim on the coveted crown and feel they have the right pieces to pull of the coup.

RJRGLEANER booked their spot after they got the better of Wisynco 2-1 in their semi-final.

“We are in the final for the first time in many years, so we are planning to go all the way and win the Division One Trophy,” RJRGLEANER coach Fabian Swaby said.

“We have a good squad with the likes of Romario Palma in goal, Javane Bryan up front, our captain Ezran Simpson, Lincoln Castell and Damion English to help lead the RG football team to victory.”

MORE THAN A SEASON

The Division Two final will bring the opportunity for a fairy tale ending, as ATL will be looking to pull off a shock win after their disastrous season last year.

Errol Andrews, head coach of ATL, said the players had come together as more than just a team, but a family, as they chase glory.

“This has been more than just a season for the ATL family. We had a poor season last year. If this was a relegation division, we would have gotten relegated,” he said.

“These men have turn this season into family first. Don’t get us wrong, it was many battles fought, even amongst ourselves, and we feel that we have gotten it together in the right moment,” Andrews continued.

“Now that we are in the finals, the sky is the limit for us. We want this championship and we have acquitted ourselves well to win it.”

Standing in their way will be Scotiabank, led by head coach Damion Gordon, who said they will be on their ‘A’ game to fight for the title.

“They are a quality team, so we have to take our chances and give a solid defensive performance by staying focused and disciplined.”
