The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe into the fatal shooting of two men in Greater Portmore, St Catherine, on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as 25-year-old electrician, Paul Francis, of Five West, Greater Portmore, and 27-year-old Omar Hooke, unemployed, of the same address.
About 5:50 a.m., the police reportedly went to their home based on information received and upon entering the premises saw the two men.
The police were reportedly about to search the house when one of the men engaged a policeman in a physical tussle.
The policeman managed to free himself and the other man reportedly pulled a gun from a clothes basket and pointed it at the police.
It's reported that the police took evasive action and fired in the man's direction and he fell.
The other man reportedly picked up the gun and pointed it at the police and he was also shot.
Both injured men were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
