Attorney listed as person of interest arrested in downtown MoBay

Attorney-at-law Debby-Ann Samuels was taken into custody on Monday after a near two-hour standoff with cops in downtown Montego Bay, St James, a senior police official and sources have disclosed.
The arrest came five days after a public bulletin issued by the police named Samuels as a person of interest in a case that is being investigated by the Fraud Squad and sought the assistance of Jamaicans to help locate her.
No charges were laid against her up to midday Tuesday.
Investigators are probing allegations related to a land deal.
The police official told The Gleaner that Samuels will be transported to Kingston for an interview in the presence of her attorney.
Sources say Samuels was in downtown Montego Bay conducting personal business when she was seen by two cops on patrol duty.
It’s reported that the policemen approached the attorney and told her that they were going to take her into custody.
“She ran go in a har car go lock up. A ‘bout two hours she in deh and nah open the door. A bare excitement,” one source recounted.
