Kingston man charged after almost $1m allegedly stolen from car
A 24-year-old Kingston man has been charged in connection with the theft of nearly $1 million from a vehicle parked downtown last month, police said.
He is Timar Robinson, of Upper West Street, Kingston, who has been charged with simple larceny and malicious destruction of property, a police statement said.
Police from the Darling Street station reported that the incident occurred at about 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, at a car park in downtown Kingston.
According to the police, a woman returned to her parked vehicle and discovered that the front passenger window had been broken and $950,000 in cash was missing from the glove compartment.
A report was subsequently made, and the scene was processed by investigators.
Police said that through the use of Jamaica Eye surveillance programme, Robinson and two other men -who have since been charged - were identified as the alleged perpetrators.
