The National Works Agency (NWA) will on Monday, February 9, commence works along Swallowfield Road in St Andrew.

Manager Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says that the road is among a list of three corridors in the Swallowfield community that will be rehabilitated under the Shared Prosperity through Accelerated Improvement to our Road Network (SPARK) Programme.

The NWA says the works are valued at $40 million.

East Avenue and North Avenue are also slated to be rehabilitated through the contract.

Shaw says that the works along Swallowfield Road are slated to be completed in seven days.

He says that as a result of the works, the entrance to the Island Traffic Authority Examination Depot along Swallowfield Road will be temporarily relocated to East Avenue.

Under the multimillion-dollar contract defective waterlines along Swallowfield Road will also be replaced.

Shaw says that during the period of the works, a temporary detour will be in operation.

Motorist travelling along Old Hope Road, heading north, will be re-routed along North Avenue, right onto Arthur Wint Drive and then right onto Central Avenue.

Motorists who traverse this area are being advised to expect slight delays during the period of the works.

They are also being urged to obey warning signs and the instructions of flag-persons when using the roads in the area.
