The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that the intersection of Graham Street and Main Street in Ocho Rios, St Ann, has been temporarily closed to facilitate repairs to a damaged drain.

The drain is located in the vicinity of Scotiabank.

The closure is between 5:00 p.m. on December 5 to 10:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8.

NWA Manager of Communication and Customer Services, Stephen Shaw, explains that the closure is necessary as the drain spans the width of the roadway and will have to be excavated.

He said that the works will also include the use of concrete that requires time to cure and strengthen.

The roadway will be closed to regular traffic during the period of works; however, Scotiabank has agreed to allow residual traffic on Graham Street to use their access after the workday ends today, December 5.

Persons who require access to entities such as Courts or the National Housing Trust (NHT) will be accommodated by the work team.

The NWA is advising motorists to avoid the area but, if they must be there, to traverse with caution.

There will be flagmen and barriers at the traffic signal at Eight Rivers Plaza to guide motorists.
