Fisherman drowns in Treasure Beach

The Pedro Plains police in St Elizabeth have launched an investigation into the death of a fisherman who drowned in the parish on Thursday.

He has been identified as 29-year-old Damian Davis of Cross Roads, Pedro Plains, St Elizabeth.

Reports are that about 12:08 p.m., Davis was on a boat in the Great Bay area of Treasure Beach, when it capsized and he got into difficulties and drowned.

His body was later retrieved and taken to the Black River Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police are awaiting a post-mortem report on the matter.
