Men arrested in St Elizabeth for stealing avocados

Police attached to the Area 3 Agricultural Protection Branch (APB) have arrested two men for praedial larceny following the theft of avocados in Newton district in St Elizabeth on Thursday.
The Area 3 APB says about 10:30 a.m., a team conducted an operation in the community after receiving a report that the men were seen picking avocados from a property belonging to a businessman and loading them into a bag.
The lawmen visited the area, but the men were not seen. The search was extended and the men were later found in the area.
The police say they subsequently confessed to the crime.
The bag of avocados was retrieved and the men were taken into custody to answer to the charge.
The police say their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
