For Ruschane Hoffstead and Cadrieanna Barnes, their first season of love began in 2015 when they were attending high school. Introduced by a mutual friend, the two hit it off quickly and became a couple. But, when Cadrieanna left to attend Northern Caribbean University in 2016, they eventually lost touch. Destiny later intervened, and the duo found their way back to each other in 2020. A second season of their love story soon began. They rekindled their romance in 2021 and made things official once again. Only this time, their love journeyed into a nuptial chapter.
“Looking back now, it’s crazy to think that, after all those years apart, we somehow found our way back to each other and ended up here,” Cadrieanna told Island Wedding.
Thinking back on her first impression of Ruschane, she shared, “He’s so handsome and thick.” While she noticed his physical features first, as time went by, her appreciation of him grew beyond appearances and got to the heart of the matter: “He’s such a kind-hearted gentleman; very ambitious. He’s also a good cook, sweet in the way he loves and cares for me, and supportive of me and my dreams.”
Ruschane, who admitted that Cadrieanna would deny first meeting him in the cafeteria where she occasionally sat with friends, was initially drawn to her beauty. But as he matured, his appreciation of his soulmate deepened: “She is beautiful. But I was able to look past the physical veils that blinded me. I started to notice how intelligent she was, and her passion for science was captivating, along with her ambitions.”
Their first date, a picnic, took place by the beach at Half Moon Bay in Negril. According to Cadrieanna, it was an amazing experience.
“We listened to music, slow danced, ate some homemade sandwiches, and just enjoyed each other’s company. It was simple, but it was really special because it was just us enjoying the moment together,” she said.
BETTER VERSION
Since their second chance, Cadrieanna shared that Ruschane has made her a better version of herself. “He is extremely supportive and has supported every personal and professional decision I’ve made. He always encourages me and reminds me that I’m capable of achieving whatever I put my mind to. Having someone who believes in you and supports your dreams means a lot to me. He is loving and intentional. Through the good and the challenging times, we’ve continued to grow together, learn from each other, and choose each other,” she said.
For Ruschane, Cadrieanna has helped him better understand and experience what it truly means to be a man: taking action and taking responsibility for his actions. “She has nurtured our relationship with the love and softness that only women are able to provide. She has brought a warmth and love that only she is capable of,” he added.
Although he knew she was the one from their first beach date, he courted Cadrieanna for four years before asking her to marry him.
“I proposed in 2025 at the Princess Grand Hotel. I made her walk into the room after a night out, and while she walked in laughing and talking, as she usually does, she turned around, [because she did] not hear a response from me. It was then and there that she saw me on my knee,” Ruschane recalled.
DREAM WEDDING
Friends and family members were happy to pitch in and make the wedding dreams a reality. “The planning process was tiring, stressful, and overwhelming at times. But it was also joyful. Having the support of our loved ones meant so much to us, and I’m really grateful for everyone who played a part in making our day possible,” Cadrieanna said.
On August 17, Ruschane and Cadrieanna became Mr and Mrs Hoffstead at Cecile’s Garden in Runaway Bay, St Ann. Specially invited guests went on to have a reception dinner at a private location.
According to the suave groom, the wedding was everything he hoped for and more. “I could see how happy my wife was. My best moment was me turning around for the first time and seeing her in her wedding dress. She reminded me of a princess, and it’s a memory I can easily see myself cherishing forever.”
The beautiful bride echoed the sentiment, “The love and support from my family and friends made it everything I could have hoped for. Seeing everyone come together for us was something I’ll always cherish. I loved seeing everyone’s reaction, especially my husband’s, when they saw me in my dress. That was such a beautiful moment for me. Then, when the pastor pronounced us husband and wife, my eyes filled with tears. It felt so real at that moment. After everything, we were finally husband and wife.”
To commemorate their union, the newly-weds shared an official dance as husband and wife to Brown Eyes by Destiny’s Child and If This World Were Mine by Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn. Cadrieanna recalled that everything felt so real in that moment.
“It honestly felt like it was just the two of us ... even though everyone was there watching. I was extremely happy because he was now legally mine. After all the years, the ups and downs, and everything we had been through, we were finally married. As they would say, ‘Mi now have papers fi man’,” Mrs Hoffstead added.
