Just weeks after emerging as one of the standout players in the Pocket Rocket Foundation (PRF) Peace Through Sports six-a-side football competition, Jaheim Dorman carried that form to St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), where he delivered a hat-trick in an opening all-stars football match.
Dorman was part of a 13-man team, representing the PRF, who played in two friendly football games against some of St Vincent’s best players. The delegation travelled to SVG from April 8-13.
The striker, who played a key role in leading his team, Legend, to the title on March 8, and claimed the Most Valuable Player and leading goalscorer titles, showed off his skills on the field as the PRF All-Stars team dominated in match one. His hat-trick secured the team a 3-0 win in the opening game.
“This was a great experience,” Dorman said. “It felt good to play in a new environment. I was a bit nervous going in, but my teammates really backed me and gave me confidence. They were even telling me I’d get a hat-trick, and that belief pushed me.”
He added that while the second match did not go as planned, the overall experience remained a positive one. “I was really pleased with the first game. The second didn’t go how we wanted, but that’s football sometimes. I’m just grateful for the experience and had a great time,” he added while acknowledging the beauty of St Vincent.
Dorman’s football journey began well before the recent spotlight. A former student of Tivoli Gardens High School, he graduated in the 2022/2023 academic year and made an early impact, winning the Walker Cup in his final season while scoring five goals.
At the club level, his development has continued steadily. During the 2022/2023 season, he featured for Waterhouse FC in the Jamaica Premier League, scoring twice. As of 2025, he represents Dunbeholden Football Club, where he is gaining further experience in top-flight competition.
His introduction to the sport came at a young age, sparked by watching the game and the excitement it brought. He began playing at 10 years old with Boys’ Town FC, where he first recognised his ability and potential.
Central to that journey has been the support of his mother, whom he credits as his biggest source of motivation. Her constant encouragement, he says, has played a key role in pushing him to improve and aim higher in his football career.
Dorman also pointed to the impact of the Pocket Rocket Foundation Six-A-Side Competition in shaping his recent progress.
“To become the leading goalscorer and also win MVP; trust me, it’s a great feeling for my first time in the competition,” he said.
Through initiatives like the Peace Through Sports programme, the Pocket Rocket Foundation continues to create platforms for young athletes to develop, compete and gain exposure beyond their immediate communities. For players like Dorman, those opportunities are translating into tangible growth and performances that extend beyond the local stage.
