Kingston’s cultural scene got a boost last Thursday as Tuff Gong International reopened on Marcus Garvey Drive with a sleek, refurbished studio. The iconic space, purchased years earlier by Rita Marley and said to honour Bob Marley’s dream of owning a studio, now celebrates Jamaica’s musical legacy with vintage vinyl, archival photos, and memorabilia. Under the leadership of Cedella Marley, it’s now a creative playground for the next generation of artistes, featuring a cutting-edge recording studio, rehearsal spaces, vinyl pressing plant, and collaborative lounges. The relaunch event, sponsored by Red Stripe, honoured the Marley family’s enduring impact while opening doors for fresh talent to carry Jamaica’s sound to the world. Something Extra has the social highlights.
