Bridget Sandals is among the local businesses in Jamaica providing relief to residents in parishes affected by the recent hurricane. The footwear brand, a staple in Jamaican households for more than 40 years, is offering support to communities in need as they recover from the devastation.
“We have customers stretched across the length and breadth of Jamaica, people who have welcomed the Bridget Sandals brand into their homes and families for years,” said Jonathan Buchanan, operations manager at Bridget Sandals. “We had to spring into immediate action when we witnessed the devastation. These are our people, and Jamaica has always been our home.”
Through its philanthropic arm, The Black Angel Foundation, Bridget Sandals has distributed more than 1,000 relief packages to communities across the hardest-hit parishes over the past week. Each package, carefully assembled with essentials, supplies, and tokens of hope has reached families struggling to rebuild in the aftermath of the storm.
“While we continue to deliver packages to communities in need, we are also doing the groundwork to ensure that we can execute projects with a larger and more lasting impact,” said Buchanon. “The Black Angel Foundation is working to finalise plans to begin assisting rebuilding select schools and educational centres in the hardest-hit areas. We believe in rebuilding not just homes, but futures.”
Founded in the heart of Kingston in the early 1980s, Bridget Sandals began as a small local workshop dedicated to creating high-quality, handmade leather footwear. Over the years, the brand has grown into a national treasure, known for its timeless designs, craftsmanship, and commitment to excellence. Yet, beyond its reputation for quality, the brand has always stood on values of family, resilience, and love for Jamaica through the Black Angel Foundation.
As the island begins the long road to recovery, the brand is calling on fellow Jamaicans and corporate partners to join in their efforts to help restore communities and uplift the lives of those affected.
