A testament to timeless love with Mr and Mrs Davis
The summer of 2011 was certainly one to remember for Shamour Davis and Denallee Bryan, as it was when they first met. Though they were barely teenagers then, Shamour knew he had already found his soulmate. What began as a decade-long friendship eventually blossomed into romance, and after three years of courtship, he took a leap of faith and asked Denallee to be his wife.
Shamour told Island Wedding, “Our paths first crossed at Daily Vacation Bible School at our home church, Clifton New Testament Church of God. I can still vividly remember Denallee in pink jeans and a vibrant multicoloured top; it’s a moment I’ll never forget. I had eyes on Denallee from the very start, harbouring a quiet hope that our connection might someday become something more.”
He spent 10 years pouring his heart into the same melody, convinced she would never feel the same. “Every interaction flowed with natural ease,” he explained, adding, “Denallee often jokes now that I was acting as though I wanted to earn the title of ‘bestie’.”
Denallee admitted to being clueless about his feelings, noting that at the time, she saw Shamour as nothing more than a friend. “Our friendship even grew over the years until we became best friends. I only thought of him as just a friend at the time, until one day, something changed. I noticed that I liked him. I was very shocked,” she shared, laughing.
This discovery made an undeniable shift, proving to be the most delightful surprise, for it meant that her prayers were answered: she would go on to marry a man who was her friend first.
What started as platonic soon took a romantic turn that neither could deny. For Shamour, this evolution was, “...the fulfilment of a hope sparked years earlier. As we spent more time together, we realised there was no one else we’d rather be with. The feelings were real, irrefutable and here to stay.”
Since their relationship began in 2022, Denallee remains grateful for a Godly, loving, supportive, and skilful partner. “My husband is a very kind, caring, loving, helpful and genuine man. Protective of me and our daughter, he’s the best chef and a creative at heart. He embodies what it means to be a Godly husband; he is truly a man that submits to God’s leadership and then through God’s delegated authority he leads me well,” she said.
SOULMATES
When Denallee feels uncertain or struggles in certain areas, Shamour supports her with kind words and holds her accountable as she works on her growth and improvement.
“By being honest and vulnerable about his feelings, Shamour has successfully watered the garden of our relationship. His characteristics align with the man I asked God for. God told me he was my husband. I prayed, fasted about it and in that same month God confirmed it to me, and confirmed it through one of his servants,” she added.
Shamour was mesmerised by his grace-filled, committed, and virtuous twin flame, seeing her as both a gift from God and the woman of his dreams.
“Denallee has sharpened my ability to be patient. God knows that before now, I was really on a short fuse. She has helped me to draw closer to God, I see her heart for God and that inspires me. Through her, I have grown in imparting biblical knowledge unto others. She is my one student who has gracefully given me her attentive eyes when I speak. She has poured in love, patience and grace into the healthy garden that is our relationship. And she has truly made me a better man,” he revealed.
On November 14, 2022, Shamour and Denallee became the proud parents of princess Lilianna Davis. Her entry into this world, according to her father, brought a radiant light in their lives, “Even as we poured our hearts into giving her the best care, we embarked on a journey of spiritual restoration, strengthening our relationship with God and rebuilding our Christian witness. Through this season, our love continued to grow stronger.”
THE BEST GIFT: ‘I DO’
Then, on January 4, what was supposed to be Shamour’s birthday dinner turned into a surprise proposal. In just a few minutes, he received the best gift of all — a fiancée — when his girlfriend of three years said yes to marrying him.
“An ordinary birthday dinner turned into the surprise of a lifetime. Kneeling before her, I asked Denallee to spend forever with me. Through her tears of joy, she said, ‘Of course!’ uttering that the ring is so beautiful. Our relationship then, now and forever will be a symbol of God’s unwavering faithfulness, grace and love,” he recalled.
The newly engaged couple planned the nuptial celebrations, with the help of a few family members and friends.
On September 13, specially invited guests gathered at Rio Bueno in Trelawny to witness the joining of Shamour and Denallee Davis in holy matrimony.
Reflecting on the enchanting event, the beautiful bride said that the couple was in awe of God’s love, favour and provision, “My best moment was saying our vows, a sacred covenant before God and community.”
While for the groom, his favourite moment came during the newly-weds’ entrance into the reception: “We freestyled on the entrance dance. And I strongly believe that everyone, including my wife, was left shocked by my dance moves because they thought I couldn’t dance. But my body moved to every beat and my lips recited every lyric of the song Good Woman by Romain Virgo.”
