When Kimberly Mitchell reunited with Yero Magnus back in 2019, the last thing on either of their minds was going into a relationship. In fact, they were averse to any romantic notions due to the distance involved. But fate had other plans. What began while riding the bus at Vaz Preparatory School took flight years later, before making a smooth landing at the beautiful destination of holy matrimony.

“I knew my husband from Vaz Prep where we were schoolmates. I used to ride on his father’s school bus,” Kimberly told Island Wedding.

They eventually parted ways, only to have a surprise encounter over social media a few years later. “We reunited on Facebook, exchanged numbers and began communicating on WhatsApp in late 2019,” she revealed.

Although they reconnected and sparks flew, the possibility of a relationship seemed to be out of the question. “To be honest, we really just spoke over the years. We were never looking at long distance as an option,” Yero shared.

Kimberly agreed, explaining that while connecting over shared beliefs and values felt fulfilling, long-distance would be impractical.

But as the two continued to speak, they grew even closer. “He is a strong man of God. And I was drawn to his faith and love for the Lord . Our connection felt more spiritual than physical, which made the distance between us less significant,” she said.

The pair would video call late at nights and early mornings, which strengthened their relationship. “God was the primary focus of our conversations, making our bond different from a typical romantic relationship,” she added.

Yero found Kimberly to be both beautiful and sexy initially, and admitted that this sentiment hasn’t changed. “She is still sexy and beautiful as ever,” he confessed. As time went on, he also admired how intelligent, industrious, loving and godly she is. “She embodies all these qualities in her daily life. She is always pushing for me to strive for the best and never settling. She allows me to lead, accompanied with love and respect.”

Kimberly continues to be fascinated by how prayerful, peaceful, loving, kind, and gentle Yero is. “He is truly a man after God’s own heart. He prays about everything, and as a prayer warrior, he is untroubled and consistently at peace. This tranquillity brings out his softer side, revealing a deep capacity for love and kindness.”

They were Facebook friends for four years, when things took a serious turn a year later.

“Last year, I travelled to the United States to visit family and friends, and he invited me to his home town of Schenectady, New York. He arranged a three-day stay at a hotel for me, since I didn’t have any family in the area, and drove nine hours to meet me. Throughout our time together, he never made any inappropriate advances,” Kimberly pointed out.

Nurtured by daily conversations about the love of God and their common desire to go deeper spiritually, their relationship bloomed. “We had a specific day that we set aside for prayer. This drew us closer together. He is always encouraging me to keep the faith and be obedient to the word of God, in spite of the circumstances,” she reflected.

After that visit with him, she realised that he was the one. “We both share the same views regarding premarital sex, believing in honouring God with our bodies and avoiding fornication. His prayers reflected all that I had been asking for, making him an answer to my prayers.”

Yero, who shared that he couldn’t pinpoint the time he reached that epiphany, said that it just dawned on him one day that Kimberly was all he had prayed for. So within that year, he asked the love of his life to be his wife.

“This is the least romantic part of our story, unfortunately,” he declared. “I just truly believed she was the one and just popped the question. Then I flew to Jamaica to put the ring on her finger to make it official.” The proposal came as a surprise to Kimberly, who was in awe by the bold move. Naturally, she said yes.

On December 15, 2024, before God and in the presence of family members and friends, Yero and Kimberly joined hands and hearts in holy matrimony at the Boone Hall Oasis in Stony Hill, St Andrew. The beautiful bride walked up the aisle to meet her handsome groom in a stunning ballgown from Exquisite Bridal Boutique.

“The best part was seeing her for the first time, all beautiful in her wedding dress,” the groom admitted.

For the bride, “The wedding was an incredibly special day, filled with unforgettable moments spent with the love of my life. Exchanging our personal vows made the day truly extraordinary. And marrying the love of my life made the occasion unforgettable.”

Marriage is Beautiful by Prince Saj stood as the soundtrack for the newly-weds’ first dance as husband and wife. “My husband chose this song, as the content of the lyrics speaks profoundly to our view of marriage.”

Speaking of making things official., “Our first date was actually on our honeymoon at Couple Resorts. The time spent was exceptional,” Mrs Mitchell-Magnus added.
