Why over 65 per cent voters rejected both parties
THE EDITOR, Madam:
Now that the election is over and done with, I believe both the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and the People’s National Party (PNP) must consider this. The fact that over 65 per cent of voters do not have faith in either one of the parties to lead Jamaica. It is even more sad for the ruling party, which spent a considerable amount of money, and still get only maybe 16 per cent of the total voting population. This was an election of the diehards more than anything else.
It still could mean that the majority of Jamaicans think none of the two parties have their confidence. As mi granny would seh nuh better herring nuh better barrel.
The fact are still that despite SPARK, the roads are in poor condition, the healthcare system is not up to par, and what has happened with the billions of dollars being spent on Cornwall Regional Hospital? They seem to have gone down the drain.
This leads me to think that there is serious brain drain in both parties despite the many doctors, lawyers, accountants, and Indian chiefs in their ranks. The vast majority of Jamaicans don’t have faith in either of the political parties.
Mi nah stop bat fi a real third party to breaks us from the political and economic bonds of slavery supervised by these two group of politicians and their 35 per cent of the electorate following.
