Euthanasia: The right to live or die?
THE EDITOR, Madam:
If we are in serious agonising pain, the average man does send his/her thanks to the Lord for giving him/her a brand new day.
There is a serious debate looming as to the right to die if you’re experiencing excruciating pains. This termination of life comes with serious implications. First, you will never live to see God’s face, you will have no share and part with anything heavenly. This procedure is called euthanasia. You’re are now fully with Satan after death because you actually wanted to die before your time. Everybody in their good health likes to live but when health fades, it feels like it is better to die than to live in such sustained pains and agony.
Euthanasia is practised in a number of countries, giving people the ultimate freedom of choosing death over life in cases of extreme painful diseases like cancers, heart diseases, and some neurological diseases, etc … . Why is it so important to remain alive in spite of the debilitating situations of certain diseases? Most important, you will be able to live eternally if your soul is right with the saviour. In most countries, and ours is no exception, medical personnel are guided by the Hippocratic Oath stated by Greek philosophers. This is a moral code of conduct stating that mortals in all their endeavours if they are in the medical fraternity should adhere to. They should always be focused on preserving lives instead of taking lives due to people’s vulnerability.
With the fast pace at which the world is moving, people get into painful body impairments which need rectifying and repairment. But in some instances, the threshold level of the pain is worrisome and may be unbearable, so most people really want to get out of this situation fast as possible. If it is even to lose his/her soul and fail to make it into God’s kingdom.
