The current session of Parliament will prorogue on February 12, 2025, giving way to the ceremonial opening of the legislature the following day.

On February 13, Governor General Sir Patrick Allen will present the Throne Speech outlining the Government’s policies and programmes for the 2025-2026 legislative year.

On the same day, Finance and the Public Service Minister Fayval Williams will table the Estimates of Expenditure – the Budget – for the upcoming fiscal year.

Edmund Bartlett, leader of government business in the Lower House, told members of Parliament yesterday that the final sitting of this session of the House will be on February 11.

Williams will open the Budget Debate on March 11, 2025.

This will be the final Budget Debate before the dissolution of Parliament, which will pave the way for the general election constitutionally due by September 2025.
