Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL) and the Port Authority of Jamaica yesterday welcomed the arrival of two new Super Post-Panamax ship-to-shore cranes to the island.

The acquisition of the equipment has been characterised as a major step in the continued modernisation of the Port of Kingston and KFTL’s commitment to advancing Jamaica’s role as a regional logistics hub.

KFTL is connected to more than 150 ports worldwide from the Port of Kingston, linking global trade routes across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

Regionally, KFTL is one of the fastest-growing terminals, with volumes growing over 50 per cent since 2020.

The strategic investment of more than US$20 million is expected to enable KFTL to efficiently service the largest vessels calling at the Port of Kingston, improving service to Jamaica’s trans-shipment and domestic markets.

This would assist in strengthening the supply chain for Jamaican businesses, supporting retail, manufacturing and agricultural sectors, and lowering the overall cost of trade.
