A day after local athletes continued preparations for next month's National Senior and Junior Championships at last Saturday's JAAA Puma Meet Two at the Ashenheim Stadium, triple jumper Jordan Scott produced a career-best performance on his way to capturing gold in the men’s triple jump at the Coqui International Cup in Puerto Rico.

The 28-year-old Jamaican leapt 17.66 metres, a new world lead, to finish well ahead of the United States pair of James Carter (16.78m) and Salif Mane (16.75m).

It improved on his previous best of 17.52m set in July 2025. The jump was also the longest by a Jamaican since Jaydon Hibbert jumped 17.75m in June 2024, when he set the Racers Grand Prix meet record.

Scott’s performance continued his impressive start to the year that saw him cop silver at the World Athletics Indoor Championships.

A day earlier, Ackeem Blake, competing for Dynamic Speed Track Club, stole the spotlight with a sub-10-second clocking in the men's 100 metres.

Blake stopped the clock at 9.97 seconds to capture the event, ahead of Rohan Watson of MVP, who was second in 10.10, with third going to Sachin Dennis of Elite Performance Track Club in 10.16.

Theanna Lee-Terrelonge of Uptimum Track Club captured the women's 100m, winning her heat in 11.17. Ashanti Moore of SprinTec won her heat in 11.23 for second overall, with third going to Tri-Tania Lowe of G.C. Foster College in 11.25.

Lavanya Williams of Dynamic Speed Track Club continued her good season form, capturing the women's 200m in 23.09, getting the better of SprinTec's Jodean Williams, who was second in 23.15, with third going to Nia Wedderburn-Goodison of Dynamic Speed Track Club in 23.52.

Jevaughn Powell of Racers was best in the men's 200m, winning the event in 20.52, ahead of teammate Shamar Horatio, who was second in 20.59, with Jevaughn Benjamin, competing unattached, third in 20.78.

World Relays representatives Shauna-Kay Anderson of UTech and Delano Kennedy of Uptimum Track Club ruled supreme in the women's and men's 400m events, respectively.

Anderson won the women's event in 52.25, finishing ahead of Janielle Josephs of MVP, second in 53.62, and Candice McLeod of Uptimum Track Club, third in 53.72.

Kennedy clocked 45.81 to win the men's event, as Jabar Matheson of William Knibb was second in 46.56, with Akini Slater of G.C. Foster College, third in 47.46.

Among the juniors, Malayia Duncan, competing unattached, led the way, capturing the girls' 100m hurdles in 14.01. Rajuana Pryce of Convent of Mercy Academy (Alpha) was second in 14.19, with Joi Ann Russell of Immaculate Conception, third in 14.26.
