Two charged over seizure of 200 rounds of ammunition in St James

The police have charged the two persons who were detained following the seizure of 200 rounds of ammunition during an operation along Fairfield Road in St James.

Thirty-two-year-old Jermaine Graham, a deliveryman of Roehampton district in Anchovy, and 23-year-old Shamoy Staple, a teller of Paradise in Norwood, both in St James, have been charged with unauthorised possession of ammunition, stockpiling of prohibited weapons, possession of a prohibited weapon, dealing in prohibited weapons, and trafficking in prohibited weapons.

Their court date is being finalised.

The incident happened on Thursday, August 6.

The police report that about 2:50 p.m., a team from the National Strategic Anti-Gang Division, acting on investigative leads, intercepted a white Toyota Voxy motor vehicle along Fairfield Road, St James, with Graham and Staple aboard.

A search of the vehicle was conducted, and four ammunition boxes containing a total of 200 9mm rounds were found on the floor on the driver's side of the vehicle.

Both individuals were taken into custody.

They were subsequently charged following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of their attorneys.
