Relatives of 40-year-old Dacia Forrester are making an urgent appeal for help after she was allegedly doused with gasolene and set ablaze during a dispute at a gas station in Whithorn, Westmoreland, on Thursday.

“I am pleading to the public; I am begging help... I don't want to lose her. Her birthday is on the 26th of February,” said Carol Blackwood-Hewitt about her sister in an emotional appeal on Friday.

They family has launched a GoFundMe campaign.

Stephen Josephs, co-founder of the Burn Foundation of Jamaica said an air ambulance is on “standby” to assist once the funds are secured. “We are racing against time,” he told The Gleaner, adding that Forrester has suffered third-degree burns over 70 per cent of her body.

Contacted late Friday, head of the Westmoreland police, Senior Superintendent Othneil Dobson, who confirmed that the incident took place in the community of Whithorn, said he was not in a position to provide further details on the case. The dispute reportedly involved another woman.
